From autumn 2020, the Bröhan Museum will present an exhibition on the work of the German "design star" Luigi Colani, who died in 2019. Colani, who was born in Berlin, caused a revolution in German design in the 1960s by making himself and his name a brand. He used the possibilities of the new material plastic to create extraordinary and futuristic forms. In doing so, he often tied in with floral and organic forms of Art Nouveau. For this reason, his designs are juxtaposed with the Art Nouveau objects in the collection at the Bröhan Museum. The floral Art Nouveau objects and Colani's designs stand for the dream of a better world.
